​What we do...

'Gníomhach le Gaeilge' (Active with Irish) are Irish language Activity Camps, which take place in Ballincollig, Co. Cork during Easter & Summer Holidays.

The fundamental philosophy underpinning everything we do during the 5 day camps is that language learning is best achieved while being active.


The vast majority of our students return & also having difficulty with the language. Our staff are all fully qualified teachers & cater for all levels of Gaeilge.

Cost: €90 per child, with €10 off for each subsequent sibling
e.g: 2 siblings €170, 3 siblings €250

We have classes for the following students:​
Primary School: Pupils starting 3rd,4th, 5th & 6th class in September 
Secondary School: Students beginning 1st & 2nd in September
We will now offer a group for those pupils in 3rd year in September. Apply through the usual enrollment form, ticking the 3rd year group.
This group will feel less like a Camp, with more choice given to the students themselves & focus on Junior Cert elements
(Our Easter Camps are for those pupils in 3rd/4th/5th & 6th class, 1st, 2nd & 3rd year)

'Gníomhach le Gaeilge' is all about communication through activity.  Our Camps are 80% activity- spórt, ceol, ealaín, cluichí teangann and 20% in-class practice(also achieved through games & activities). This is not school!! This is making friends, realising you have more ability than you thought and of course, having fun!! The vast majority of our students have difficulty with the Irish language- as a result, we cater for all levels of Gaeilge. ​A Taste of some of our activities!

Ealaín:
​Our art classes are a huge hit! 
Students get a chance to be creative with collages, painting, drawing and much more.  They allow respite from sport, and a chance to chat as Gaeilge in the art room with Art/ Irish teacher Nollaig.

Cluichí Teangann (Language Games)

​Spórt

We provide a vast range of sporting activities, from team sports like basketball and hurling to orienteering, gymnastics, Zumba and dance.

Ceol

​Our music teachers combine language learning with music & song to create a fun musical experience. Students may also bring in instruments during the week.

Ranganna

 Our morning classes are conversation based and informal. Central topics are introduced, explained and practised through pair-work and other strategies. 

Drámaíocht

The drama/language game classes are designed to encourage both Gaeilge and creativity. Language games and improvisation are usually the biggest hits!

Our 2 assistants have fluent Irish and are also Garda-vetted.
We are all committed to providing an caring environment for our students, where learning and fun go hand in hand. There are no 'leaders', all activities are conducted by teachers, and assisted by our cúntóirí(assistants)
